British Naturism is holding a Nudefest event in Cornwall for the sixth year running. From the 10th of June until the 17th, British Naturism will be hosting Nudefest festival in Newperran Holiday Park near Perranporth and Newquay.
The week-long festival will include a schedule of events including a day at The Eden Project, at which University College Falmouth Music students will be performing. “We’re having a real push at the moment to get more young people (18-30s) involved in naturism.” Said Martin Warrilow, a regular attendee of British Naturism events.
The link with the University is an attempt to encourage more people to get involved with British Naturism.
Popular Music students of University College Falmouth, Megan Markwick and Lily Somerville, will be playing at Nudefest. Markwick said: “When we first heard about Nudefest we laughed about imagining playing there, but then we realised that it’s a festival and we shouldn’t through away an opportunity to play in front of a big audience, whether they are naked or not! It’s different and it is something interesting to say we have done.”
Naturism is a controversial issue, it is the practice of going without clothes and some people have raised issues with the event being held in Cornwall. Harry Bartlett, Fashion Photography student at UCF said: “I wouldn’t like that at all; it’s a freedom of expressions where people can enjoy their ‘truest form’ but it’s not my thing.”
British Naturism has been organising events like this for six years in Cornwall, with each one being more successful than the last.
Newperran Park will offer exclusive use of its facilities to British Naturism which include a heated swimming pool, a pub, shop, restaurant and children’s play areas. British Naturism will be hosting their own marquee to accommodate other activities throughout the week.
Lily and Meg will be playing at The Eden Project for the Nudefest day trip there on Sunday June 10th. Find out more about British Naturism here.
