Octonauts

Everybody thinks that environmental issues are being ignored, or at least, not prioritised. But behind the doors of many young families, children are sat watching a children’s tv programme called Octonauts. The Cbeebies hosts the show, and it’s aim is to teach children “more about the world around them”.

Based on the books by award-winning design team Meomi, The CGI animation focuses on the underworld environment and issues concerning the underwater wildlife, while Captain Barnacles and his two main companions, Lieutenant Kwazii Cat, and Medic Peso Penguin rescue sea creatures and explore new aquatic environments in their fully adapted vehicles.

The Octonauts going on a mission!

While people have a “save the environment” energy these days due to global warming, the young ones of our generation are learning too about the world aroud them. The ten minute episodes are not over-bearing with information, but are filled with fun facts about the ocean and the creatures. They show the vulnderable side to predatory creatures like sharks and is educational about how creatures navigate and live differently under the sea. It remains engaging for youngsters by having the rescue team the main part of the story, as it’s action packed, the children won’t get bored and at the same time they’re learning invaluable lessons about the sea.
